READY, SET, READ!

A summer literacy jumpstart for rising kindergarteners

Small-group, evidence-based literacy instruction designed to give your rising kindergartener a confident, joyful start to reading.

Led by Maggie Yolen, MS, Orton-Gillingham specialist with 15+ years in literacy education.

Two cohorts to choose from: July 13-24 or July 27–August 7, Monday and Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 PM.

Each session will have a max of five children to ensure plenty of targeted support.

Sessions will take place at Maggie’s home classroom in East Rock (around the corner from East Rock Park). Drop-off only.

Each cohort meets twice a week, for two weeks, and is $350 total. Included in this is a 60 minute parent education workshop on how children learn to read, how we can best support them at home, and how we can monitor their progress and ensure they’re progressing at an appropriate pace in elementary school.

We’ll work on:

—Phonemic awareness and letter-sound connections

—Early decoding and blending

—Print concepts and reading confidence

—Playful, structured literacy activities
